” “width=250The majestic rice terraces of the Philippines were made many years ago by the Ifugaos and have been listed as one of the wonders of the world. Terraces were formed from the sloping mountains done manually and were planted with lowland rice. This has become a cultural heritage for the Ifugaos and a pride for the Philippines.

Although it is sad to know that these terraces are not being maintained anymore like it was before. People prefer to leave the mountains and choose to work in the city rather than to cultivate land and produce food for the country. If only this can still become a good source of rice, the country might have not suffered a very expensive price for a kilo of rice. There would have been enough rice served at every Filipino dining table to date. Sadly, even people living near the terraces are suffering rice shortage.

Modernization has made the native farm practices be forgotten. Come to think of it, before, when manual labor was dominant, these terraces were maintained and not a single terrace was neglected. But with the advent of fertilizers and other modernization, it seems that the terraces were not being taken care of by many people. Many prefer to work in lowlands or in the city.

Modern gadgets now alienate people leading to the “uselessness” of these technologies. What worth does an object possess if one does not have any idea on how to use it. Every technology should be accompanied with proper use or guidelines on how to maximize its potential. And besides, not every technology is applicable to everybody. Scientists and engineers should develop technologies that will fit their target market as a whole

How does one hold on to a relationship if the other one starts to lose grip? How can a relationship last if is letting go? How can love continue if love itself has faded through time. How can one be happy if one is tied with the chains of love and suffering?

Relationships start and end. This is a natural process, something that is inevitable, something that is real. But why do relationship ends and how do they start? They say it happens unknowingly. That love comes when we least expect it to. Sure, both feel happiness whenever they are into something with the one they love. One feels secure when they are with their partners. But security is one thing that can make or break a relationship. Much as jealousy and insecurity, having a loss of trust to your partner can lead to a devastating end.

Let’s say this “end”has finally come. What can one do with it? The time to let go has finally come. Keeping hold of the memories that a couple have shared, cherishing every moment is something that holds a person aback to let go of the other. This is wrong. If one intends to forget the past love and move on with life, one must leave this baggage to a place where one cannot get a hold of it anymore. Forgetting something is not an easy thing to do, especially if it hurts. But keeping a hold of memories are a lot painful in the long run.

If one keeps on hurting because of the past, then let go of the past. One must get a grip of oneself so as much to make oneself whole again, ready to love again. If a relationship does not work anymore, then that’s it. It’s over. Don’t hold back because of the memories. Things happen because they serve a purpose. And things happen because they do. Accepting the fact that one can be better off without the other.

To love blindly Turn your head 360 degrees when you are standing at a bar, at a park, on a street, at the mall and you will see couples doing sweet nothings and cheesy stuffs. People see this as normal today, contrary to the past, these acts have been already accepted specially in urban and periurban communities. While couples take advantage of this situation, there are those who takes it to a higher level, to same sex relationships.

It was forbidden by the holy scriptures for a man to have an intimate relationship with another man and for a woman likewise. It was said that a man is created for a woman and a woman for a man. That such act is immoral and is unforgivable by the law of the higher Being. And this has become part of the norms of many society.

But the contemporary society thinks otherwise. That love is blind, love is universal, it should not have any regard with gender and sexuality. Thus, came the same sex relationships visible everywhere. That a person should not be dictated whom to love as long as his/her feelings dictate it to be. That a man can love both man and woman and the woman the same. That  religion being the most powerful institution during the middle ages has lesser impact today.

While many believe that morality is valued much in the society, there are still those who opt to act on their will and love who they want to love. Bisexuals, gays and lesbian is becoming more and more “out” today. Personally I think that they have just realized that is is “okay” now to be like that today. But,is it really okay?

Many online communities today cater to the discreetness of this kind of relationships, providing a haven for people who would want to meet other people like them, people that will understand their feelings much as the latter can understand the former’s. But this communities do not provide much of this kind of avenue, lest, it provides an open place to find a sex partner of the same sex. Forum topics and threads revolve in this kind of genre, someone wanting to meet a sex partner, not a partner for life, but just for sex. Some even take advantage of this and make a living out of it. By becoming “callboys” and “callgirls”. Just to satisfy their cravings for sex and physical pleasure. Although not all involved in these communities seek sex, people who thirst for physical pleasure seem to dominate, defeating the purpose of the online community.

Same sex relationship is not about sex, it should be about love, respect and a feeling for the same sex. Heterosexuals should not think of the homosexuals as such. They are humans much like the heterosexuals. It is not impossible for them to love truly. It is not even impossible for heterosexuals to find love for sex. Altogether, both are humans, and both are the same, only of different preferences and different views but still exist in the same world.

To find love and to be happy should always be the goal of everyone. To obtain this goal, one should not judge another and that one should learn to respect another. Love is natural, it is innate, so let it be, and just be happy.

blood I just had my first blood donation for the Red Cross Youth, UPLB Chapter today. It aims to help the blood bank center and other institutions that aims for the wellness of the people’s health.

I donated a total of 450ml and since it was my first time donating such, I was nervous at first. From registration down to the bleeding, I was scared but eventually it turned out to be great. I was asked to fill up a questionnaire then the doctors lined up there examined me if I was qualified to donate blood. The bleeding process took about 20 minutes. It didn’t hurt at all, contrary to what I thought it would. After the activity, I was happy because I was able to help those who needed my blood and that a life in the future will be saved because of my donation.

For those who are interested on blood donating, do not hesitate for there are benefits that are lined for those who wish to donate their blood. The body undergoes a “change oil”, meaning, those blood being donated are automatically being replaced by the body resulting to the cleaning of the blood. This feels really good. For me, at least I was able to “clean” my body and help at the same time.

Reading history books and other stories about love during the past, there is a big difference on how love develops between individuals. Much like the evolution of photography, love nowadays has become like digital processing.

In the past decades, love and marriage in the country takes a ling time to develop. Young couples often undergo certain cultural practices that the society requires so as men will win the woman’s heart. Thus various folk dances were created depicting how loce and courtship were in the Philippines as well as in every region. But not all folk dances revolve around this concept. In short, being together as lovers is not as easy as it is at present. Much like in photography, a photo taken today needs to undergo several developing techinques before it can  be seen as a photograph. It would take at least 24 hours just to completely develop a single photo.

Today, with the advent of new technology, advances in digital processing and imagery, a photo taken just a minute or two can already be printed in a matter of minutes. Just like love. With the modern technology and the advent of the internet, chat and text messaging, two people meet online, through electronic mails or even through text, get to know each other in a couple of hours and then, they have become lovers in an instant. This is the reason why people nowadays get hooked up many times in just a couple of months and finds another. It is so much easier to find someone to “love” nowadays, much like the shooting and printing of digital photos.

One Two Three Smile… I Love You
