blood I just had my first blood donation for the Red Cross Youth, UPLB Chapter today. It aims to help the blood bank center and other institutions that aims for the wellness of the people’s health.

I donated a total of 450ml and since it was my first time donating such, I was nervous at first. From registration down to the bleeding, I was scared but eventually it turned out to be great. I was asked to fill up a questionnaire then the doctors lined up there examined me if I was qualified to donate blood. The bleeding process took about 20 minutes. It didn’t hurt at all, contrary to what I thought it would. After the activity, I was happy because I was able to help those who needed my blood and that a life in the future will be saved because of my donation.

For those who are interested on blood donating, do not hesitate for there are benefits that are lined for those who wish to donate their blood. The body undergoes a “change oil”, meaning, those blood being donated are automatically being replaced by the body resulting to the cleaning of the blood. This feels really good. For me, at least I was able to “clean” my body and help at the same time.

One Response to “My First Blood Donation”
  1. This is a very good point, the need to donate blood. Thank you for reminding me that this is something I have yet to do, for the first time.
My own mother, who has leukemia, has been kept alive only through repeated blood transfusions, every two weeks or so, for years. Without these, she would not be alive today.
    Cheers.
